Interactive map of North West Iceland

The northwestern region of Iceland ALL about the fjords. It's remote and somewhat isolated from the rest of the country, but that makes it a truly wild place with incredible things to see.

Close to the Arctic Circle, it is the most untamed region of the island and the least frequented by tourists. Fishing is the only economic activity in this very sparsely populated region, with a harsh climate and a terrain as hostile as it is beautiful.

Also known as Westfirðir, in this region you will find the Ísafjörður and Latrabjarg Cliffs, the tallest cliffs in Europe where millions of puffins gather every summer.

Hornstrandir offers a hiking trail that is truly so remote it feels like another planet entirely. There are waterfalls like the beautiful Dynjandi and numerous hot springs in the western fjords.

Not to be missed in the North West

In a nutshell, go with the fjords!
